Receiving copies with barcodes
You can receive textbooks whether they are part of an existing transfer or not.
Receiving copies in a specific transfer
- Open the Track tab of in the .
- Under Incoming Transfers are listed your active transfers: the originating school, transfer date and time, order number, and transfer status. If the transfer is limited to one title, it appears under the status.
- To view and receive the textbooks in a shipment, click
to open the View Transfer page.
- To receive the Copies Sent with Barcodes, use one of these three methods:
- At the top of the page, scan each barcode, or type it in and click
. - Click
on the right to accept the whole shipment.
Note: This is the only option that generates a job summary. - Click Show More
to see the copies. Then, click
on the right, to accept them one by one.
The copies move from Copies sent to Copies Received on the View Transfer page.
If any of the incoming barcode numbers already exist in your school, Destiny automatically assigns a new one. Destiny alerts you with a message on the page or in the job summary. The message includes the new barcode number.
The copy statuses change from In Transit to Available.
If you did not use the Receive All option (generating a job summary), you may want to print the list by clicking
.
Once you have accepted all the copies and no longer need the information, click
on the page to remove the transfer from your list.
I didn't receive all the books in the list. What do I do?
Once you have scanned all the barcodes of the copies you did receive, click
on the page to mark the missing copies Lost and delete the transfer.
Please note that any unreceived copies are marked as Lost at your school, not at the sending school.

Receiving copies regardless of a transfer
As a school textbooks manager, Destiny allows you to receive textbooks with barcodes whether they are part of an existing transfer or not. You'll just create a barcode list, upload a barcode file, or scan in their barcodes one at a time.
Note: To have this ability, your Destiny Administrator must have selected the Allow sites to receive textbooks by barcode scan check box on the Edit District page. (more on this)
- If you scan copies that are part of an existing transfer, Destiny follows the normal process to receive the copies.
- If the textbooks are not part of an existing transfer, Destiny automatically transfers ownership to your school.
To begin, click
on the main page.
To receive textbooks by barcode list
- Click the List tab.
- Scan the barcode numbers into the Create a barcode list field. You can also type them in and click
or press Enter.
To remove a barcode from the list, highlight it and click
.
- Click
.
- The opens, where you can view the results in the job summary, "Receive Textbook Copies by Barcode".
To receive textbooks by barcode file
- Click the List tab.
- Click Browse to select the barcode file.
- Click
.
- The opens, where you can view the results in the job summary, "Receive Textbook Copies by Barcode".
To receive textbooks one at a time
- Click the One-at-a-time tab.
- In the Scan or enter copies one-at-a-time box, scan the barcodes. You can also type them in and press Enter.
Copy information for the ten most recently received copies appears on the page in the Copies Received list. Destiny displays any errors immediately.
Notes:
- If the copies are part of an existing transfer to your school, Destiny follows the normal process to receive the copies.
- If the copies are not part of an existing transfer to your school, Destiny transfers ownership of the copies to your school.
- If the copies are part of an existing transfer to another school, Destiny removes the copies from that transfer. Destiny then transfers the copies to your school. If a copy is checked out, Destiny checks it in before transferring it.
- If the barcode number on an incoming copy is already in use at your school, Destiny cannot transfer it, and lists the barcode number in the job summary.
- If a copy was marked Lost, Destiny sets it to Available during the transfer. Destiny does not transfer any copies that were deleted, and notes them in the job summary.
