Messages may appear at the top of a page after first retrieving a patron, copy, or item record. They may contain block conditions or information about the patron, copy, or item that requires attention, or a note.

A block condition occurs whenever a patron reaches one of the limits for his patron type. During a patron's transaction, Destiny alerts you with a message that begins with "[Action] Blocked:" and lists the limit(s) reached.

An informational message about a patron may include ready holds they need to pick up, any overdue checkouts, or fines that require attention. For a copy or an item, it may include information about an existing conflict.
